A first day on the job can be tough, especially when you’re still adjusting to the country you live in. That’s why the International Rescue Committee is seeking donations to help newly relocated refugees adjust to their new jobs. This weekend, you can also buy some empty bowls to make sure the bowls of local homeless people are always full. Later, don’t miss a hike and teach-in event about climate-change politics.
First Job, First Step Donation Drive

The International Rescue Committee is looking for donations to help relocated refugees get through their first case of the Mondays. The nonprofit is looking for people to give starter kits with items such as messenger bags, pens, planners and gift certificates for work clothing. Empty Bowls

Clay Arts Utah is throwing clay and good karma your way at this year’s Empty Bowls fundraiser. For $15, you can buy a clay bowl made by a local artist
and a meal of hot soup and bread. All proceeds go to the St. Vincent de Paul Resource Center, which makes sure there are always full bowls for those in need. The event also features
live music and diversions for the kiddies, so you can bring the whole

and Occupy SLC will be hosting a
solidarity teach-in with more than 100 countries around the world. Instructors will be connecting dots between climate
change, the dirt in the sky and the water, and the dirtbags in government, then leading a hike to the Jordan River headwaters.
