Four internationally recognized classical and jazz pianists will grace Salt Lake City with their presences this weekend as part of this year’s Bachauer International Piano Festival.

Ted Rosenthal (pictured) kicks off the festival with a solo concert Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Rosenthal has been praised by critics as “a pianist of the rarest skill” and performed with jazz greats such as Art Farmer and Benny Golson. The festival continues with a concert by Ukrainian “Diva of the Piano” Marina Lomazov Thursday at 7:30. With experience playing with orchestras from Scotland to Mexico, Israeli/German pianist Albert Mamriev returns to Salt Lake after a recent performance with the Utah Symphony Orchestra for a concert Friday at 7:30 p.m. The festival comes to a cadence with American pianist Spencer Meyer Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to solo concerts, attendees are encouraged to attend concert-style workshops hosted by the musicians. The workshops are a unique opportunity to watch the musicians explore and discuss classical and jazz piano with local pianists. Workshops take place at 10 a.m. Thursday-Saturday. (Hattie MacLeod)
