Go naturale: As I mentioned in my main restaurant review, Salt Lakers seem starved for new and unique nonfranchise eating options. Well, here’s another. Business has been brisk since Doug Nelson and George Metos, both Utah natives, opened Au Naturale in Sugar House a few months back. And I can see why. Au Naturale offers fast, convenient food (there’s even a drive-thru takeout window) that is actually wholesome and often healthy. n

I should mention, by way of disclaimer, that George Metos is Paula Saltas’ (wife of City Weekly president John Saltas) brother. So because of any real or perceived conflict of interest, you likely won’t see a full review of Metos’ restaurant here. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check out Au Naturale yourself and form your own opinions. Au Naturale is a lively, clean, well-lit and modern space with walk-up counter service. The menu is quite eclectic, with offerings that range from house-made chicken pot pie with sweet potato-Parmesan crust ($6.49) and brown rice ahi tuna rolls ($7.79), to daily flatbread pizza specials, soups, sandwiches, and a range of salads ($6.29-$7.99). There’s also beer and wine available, and if you’re thinking about party treats for your next bash, Nelson and Metos also do catering. I love this line from the restaurant’s Website: “Keep your clothes on. Au Naturale means scrumptious food that’s not overdressed.” You’ll find Au Naturale restaurant in Sugar House at 880 E. 2100 South. You can phone them at 466-8888 or visit online at GoAuNaturale.com.

Après eats: Park City’s Iverson Catering offers après-ski meal packages that generously feed six. Customers order meals cooked (to be re-heated) or raw (to be cooked from scratch), or can even have their après-ski meal delivered to their residence, condo or hotel hot & ready-to-eat. It’s an easy way for families and groups to enjoy a high-quality meal without paying restaurant prices. For menus and information, phone Iverson Catering at 435-640-2237.
