“The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding”(Justice Louis D. Brandeis).

Rep. Jim Matheson is a prime example of this very problem. His refusal to even discuss reasonable changes to the ill-conceived Children’s Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) proves that he is unwilling to use good science as the foundation to make sound and nonpartisan decisions.

He refuses to meet with constituents with opposing viewpoints. And he continues to ignore the myriad of unintended consequences of the CPSIA, including hundreds of thousands of lost jobs and closed businesses. It does not matter that the CPSIA does not make our products safer, but simply more expensive.

What really matters is that the Democratic leadership looks like they are protecting our children in front of a camera. It’s time to replace this Democrat pawn.
