Author and historian Adolf Hungry Wolf has written dozens of books exploring Cuba, railroad camps, and American Indian tribes of the Rockies. His most recent publication, though, is on a whole other scale.

The Blackfoot Papers is a lifelong effort with four-volumes chronicling of Hungry Wolf’s induction, betrothal and commitment to the traditional ways of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana.

According to local bookseller Ken Sanders, Hungry Wolf’s preservation of what was once thought to be a dying culture not only has garnered the respect of many tribal elders, it also resulted in a fascinating and altogether unprecedented ethnography.

Furthermore, Sanders notes, since Hungry Wolf rarely leaves the comfort and familiarity of his home in British Columbia, he almost never agrees to public appearances. But since this unbelievably thorough record has come out without underwriting or general sponsorship of any sort, he is honoring Salt Lake City with a rare talk and signing.
