“Step, kick, kick, leap, kick, touch … again!” Pioneer Theatre Company performs the Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical about 17 dancers vying for a spot in a Broadway chorus line.
The musical debunks all myths about the lives of working performers being at all glamorous or easy. Inspired by choreographer Michael Bennett’s real-life conversations with his friends and colleagues—a process chronicled in the recent documentary Every Little Step—A Chorus Line gives audiences a peek into the lives of the anxious professional dancers behind the legwarmers and leotards. The characters are forced to share their personal stories during their auditions, which range from hilarious to heart wrenching to socially relevant.
This is a must-see for any performer, aspiring performer or anyone who has had to prove themselves to pursue a passion.
