Re: “Nursing a Grudge

Just when I think things will settle down we get hit with more devastating news. Rumors are now circulating that two more experienced teachers are being punished and possibly being forced to leave. It's now pretty clear to students that the college has some sort of agenda to remove all the experienced teachers and replace them with new people who have no clue what they are doing. The program is disjointed and there are so many huge gaps in what is being taught. I'm soooo tired of the BS. I'm disappointed that the college administration will not stand by students and will so freely support Francine. We can safely compare the President of the College to Marie Antoinette. She sits high on her perch and describes how she supports students. She does this as she beheads the very teachers who are invested in student learning. I would ask her why she is allowing this to happen to the many students who came to SLCC for a quality education. Why is she allowing someone with a mental illness run the program? It's not working and students are suffering.

Re: “Nursing a Grudge

Everyday is pretty much a shit show. We have new teachers who can't teach, who give the answers to the upcoming tests, and they are boring in the classroom. Why bother even showing up to class. I don't care what has to be done but Francine has to go or the program will completely be worthless. That's just my honest and very frustrated opinion.

Re: “Nursing a Grudge

I am happy to see that there are at least two "students" who have had a positive experience in the SLCC nursing program. I think that most students in the program are not opposed to change. What the majority of the nursing students are opposed to is the poor leadership and mismanagement of the program. We are opposed to being told that we should not speak out or voice concerns or risk being called disrespectful and threatened to have it placed in our student files. We are opposed to being told by the Provost of the college that we have to attend mandatory meetings, being pulled out of class and then scolded. We are opposed to the faculty who cared about our learning is constantly being blamed for the poor decisions being made by administration. We are opposed to being bullied and threatened. We are opposed to having new faculty in the classroom who read from a powerpoint instead of actually teach. At least act like you want to be there. I'm glad that some feel excited for the future of the program. Personally, I fear the poor reputation that the program now had among the community. What was once a program that was respected is now turning into a circus. For the sake of future nursing students, I hope something changes soon.
