Foster care or Sanctuaries, Cassidy? What has likely happened is 1) they had the time and money to keep the horses, or 2) they sold the horses.
People only foster horses if they are asked by a rescue to do so. There are few sanctuaries and the few that there are generally take one type of horse, such as PMU mares. These horses do not fit into that category.

Blaming the carriage company on the collapse and eventual death of Jerry the horse, who had colic, without an autopsy, was not valid. Horses can collapse and die from colic with the best of care. They can be fine one minute and then on the ground the next, and die. For example, they can have a lipoma that strangles the small intestine, and even with surgery, die. When horses colic they can rub raw spots in minutes, even in stalls with rubber mats and shavings. Rules can be implemented, but bans? I thought we lived in America -- "The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave."

Q8dhimmi and anyone else who is absent of the facts regarding horse slaughter, horses have not been used, thankfully, as an ingredient in dog food since the early 1970s. The horse drugs were killing people's pet dogs, especially the Collie breeds. Since horses are not food animals in the U.S., horse drugs are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration and their meat should not be consumed by anyone or anything.
