Re: “Goodbye UTA

Trouble being that the gas tax hits everyone, not just those who could use transit. It's also regressive, given that the poor drive the longest distances. The free fair zone serves only to turn Trax into a rolling homeless shelter. My conference stays in other cities simply include a free 3-day pass.

Re: “Rose Park to Magna

Jeepers, I missed this article from last week (Aug. 8, 2018) and I do apologize. Usually I'm looking for John's wit and wisdom. Anyway, Rose Park? Are you kidding? Rose Park has a notorious if not seamy underbelly that rarely gets any attention whatsoever. Well maybe apart from Court Records. Besides, Rose Park sends high school kids to West High. Yes, West High home of the Panthers. The West High Panthers used to be scandalous.
I can suppose that with the passage of years and rising property values, Rose Park's reputation may have mellowed. It is possible. Once upon a time and way back in the day, Rose Park was home to the Salt Lake City dump. Oh yes, that is true.
Ah northwest Salt Lake, those were the days.

Re: “Post-Retailer

It appears you purposely left out Young Livings international convention, which brings over 30,000!

Re: “Summer at the Drive-In

Actually, there are only 5 remaining drive-ins left in Utah. You listed the Sunset Drive-in in Vernal, but the Sunset closed in 2013 after a fryer fire destroyed the concession building. There are also several remaining drive-ins in bordering states. Visit to locate them all and learn more about each of them. Three of the remaining five drive-ins are in the Salt Lake City area.

Re: “Summer at the Drive-In

Just a thought about "bringing your own goodies": Theatre owners make almost nothing from ticket sales; those proceeds go to the studios. Any drive-in owner or operator will tell that concession sales are key to their staying in business. So please patronize the concession stand when you go to a drive-in theatre. Otherwise, you may soon find there's no drive-in left.

And some countries (like Thailand) have the Hand Bidet Sprayer which is even better than toilet paper and what we should be getting in the US. See

Re: “Rental Blues

I personally think your information is deceptive at best the problem is that these developers are.owned controlled by the church and the fact that most if these apartments are being filled up by young L.D.S.leaders children who are basically using church money to foot the bill combating any one not L.D.S should not live in the downtown area and for a fact that. Most if these people who are renting these apartments are young and controlled by the religion and everything is deceptive and not what it should be Utah is trying to act like it is a new York style but falls heavily short on the fact that it don't like clubs rap music or any entertainment that is not P.G and that makes salt lake city biggest expensive high rent of nothing to offer any one at all the rents are three times the amount of the income and most only work like 39 hours a week at that part time what a joke !!!!!

I know it's not that simple, and some people need help that goes far beyond just housing, but $20 million divided by 1,000 comes to $20K per homeless person.
