Re: “Patrick Harmon Body Cam Video Released

He is tasered after being shot, and then the officer lies about him turning and threatening with a knife. Why do that? Because the officers knew that to just shoot someone three times in the back would be a questionable shooting. Running away from a missing bike-taillight stop should not be grounds for being shot to death. These officers were thinking of making it look like they tasered him first and then fired only after being threatened. As it turned out, the body camera shows the real truth. But they didn't have to worry, the system, once again, covered for them and called it justified, despite what the video shows.

^That's so rude ^ he didn't say it was his own, just the one he uses. And I, for one, appreciate the effort since I came across this page, as you probably did, in search of a recipe for corned beef and cabbage. A simple 'thank you' would suffice!

Re: “Patrick Harmon Body Cam Video Released

He was wrong for trying to flee. But why not just taze him? He should not have been killed over this. And again the authorities calling this JUSTIFIED? I don't see him threatening the Police with a knife.

Re: “Meet the Mormons likely to be "surprise" hit thanks to LDS Church putting pressure on members

I am a member of the Church in the Mission Viejo, CA area. I would say my experience has been much different than your source in Redlands. While we have certainly been encouraged to see the show and invite our friends and neighbors to see it too, I definitely couldn't say we have been "pressured" to see the show. And I haven't heard of any wards buying out theaters... but I did find out our local theater added extra screens for tonight's shows. As for the quote about greed, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints isn't making any money on this and are donating all proceeds to the Red Cross.

Re: “Patrick Harmon Body Cam Video Released

The big issue besides the murder of another black man by police is that the police LIED to try and cover up their crime...I believe that, is still against the law! #Blacklivesmatter

Re: “Patrick Harmon Body Cam Video Released

Any unarmed person running from the police who have not comitted a felony or who is not an escapee from prison should not lose their life by the hands of law enforcement. To have a no indictment is ridiculous. If that was one of the DAs family members it would be totally the other way I guarantee that.!!!

Re: “Today is the anniversary of Spanish Fork accidentally booking Rage Against The Machine and everyone losing their minds

As a 14 ur old, I both lived in the area and attended the show. I remember the preceding hysteria. A rumor was going around that a local stake president had prophesied someone would die at the concert which, as an otherwise devout Mormon, I half believed might actually happen.
The concert was a lot of fun and my most distinct memory is of the most pits which kept forming around me. As a weak, shy 14yr old, I found this terrifying and would immediately run out of the circle, only to be pushed back in by the wall of guys who, for whatever reason, didn't want anyone to leave the circle (or mistook my frantic efforts to flea as 'moshing' against them and that was their attempt to 'mosh' back)

Re: “Meet the Mormons likely to be "surprise" hit thanks to LDS Church putting pressure on members

This is more of a creepy review than a correct review by 'city weekly.net'. We were asked to pay our local theater for tickets. If someone has the means and gives tickets away, let me say this - 100% of the proceeds go to the AMERICAN RED CROSS NOT THE LDS CHURCH. As for the 'church member' from Redlands who says the church probably doesn't care about honesty, are you joking? Any intelligent person who reads that can understand that anyone who says their church doesn't care about 'honesty' probably isn't even a Christian. Give me a break! I've not read any thing from this particular organization, but talk about 'yellow journalism'. Shame on you. Get you facts straight. Do some work, actual work, before reporting balony. Unless that's your whole purpose - to report untruths about religions. And this one in particular. I wish I had enough money to buy out a showing. What an honor to not only uplift people but give them a movie that they can bring their kids to without giving them blood, gore, and sex. It's just too bad that some people just promote garbage about an organization for whatever purpose. usually it's because you've been offended or because you don't like the doctrine that might make you feel bad about yourself. I love that I can say the things I feel about this business because by badmouthing a movie without seeing it, when the proceeds go to such a wonderful cause, says so much about your 'cityweekly.net' business. What a crock!

Why don't you try saying that sentence out loud?

And the church is donating NET proceeds, Copernicus. Which means it has to make its money back first. But good job in participating in its disingenuous marketing.

Re: “Sources Confirm That Two SLC Council Members Involved in Affair

Both are exemplary public servants. The article states that there are no statutes or guidelines prohibiting personal relationships which pose no ill will to The City. Also, I find the "multiple sources" attribution wholly unreliable. When I ran for City Council in 2009? CW depicted me as "a lesbian realtor!" Neither the first nor the last assertion is true! Best to them both, to our other council representatives, and to us all. Love you, Erin!--jjj

Re: “King of Fire

Firefighters on the street are committed to working hard and serving the public honorably. The actions of a few are not indicative of rank and file. I'm proud to be a UFA firefighter. I love my job. Looking forward to better times ahead.

Re: “Patrick Harmon Body Cam Video Released

How in hell Can a man end up with three bullets in his back if he is being combative. This is Bullshit. This is what we mean when we say "BLACK LIVES MATTER". We are not saying all lives don't matter. We are saying Black Lives Matter Too. If Ray Ray shoots Tyrone unjustified then he is going to jail. But if Officer Bob shoots Ray Ray then he ain't going to jail. He will be put on paid administrative leave until his boss lies and say that Ray Ray being killed by Officer Bob was justified. Officer Bob is then bought back to work with a promotion.

Re: “Patrick Harmon Body Cam Video Released

Makes no sense. White people please understand why we are protesting. You can plainly see this black man was unarmed and running away. Not a reason in the world to get shot in the back. This was so wrong and I hope they fire this Cop but I doubt it will happen

Re: “Meet the Mormons likely to be "surprise" hit thanks to LDS Church putting pressure on members

Net, net, net proceeds go to the American Red Cross, if any. That's after production costs, distribution costs, shared ticket sales with the screening venue, etc. For all the smug Mormons defending this feature length version of "I'm A Mormon", best understand your tithing paid to have this film produced and sent to these theatres, and now you're being asked to pay for it again with a ticket purchase.

If you want the American Red Cross to benefit, give them a donation directly. There will never be a financial accounting for this publicity stunt by LDS, Inc.

Re: “Today is the anniversary of Spanish Fork accidentally booking Rage Against The Machine and everyone losing their minds

The single most memorable night in Spanish Fork history! I remember coming home and telling my dad that I bought a ticket, then I proceeded to play "killing in the name of" for him. He listened intently, and just told me to, "Use my head and to take everything with a grain of salt." He was such an amazing and open minded man! Needless to say, I had more fun at that concert(my very first concert mind you), than I have ever had at any subsequent concert I've attended. Too bad Rage broke up, the world could still use the powerful message their lyrics conveyed!

Re: “Sources Confirm That Two SLC Council Members Involved in Affair

And this is news because ... Why? Truly, has it come to this, CW? You have Stephen Dark and Eric Petersen --two of the state's best journalists, who have always produced real stories, and told them with flair -- and you post this? Gossipy City Hall sources whose names you don't even demand. Where are your standards? Wow.
