Plan-B Theatre Company begins its annual elementary school tour Oct. 13 with the world-premiere production River.Swamp.Cave.Mountain (pictured), about a pair of young siblings learning to cope with the recent death of their grandmother. The 35-minute show will also be making several stops at Salt Lake City Library branches for free shows, beginning Oct. 19 at the Main Library branch.

Peery's Egyptian Theatre (2415 Washington Blvd., Ogden) hosts the winner of the 2017 Rocky Mountain Choreography Festival with Jennifer Porter's Firebird, performed by Imagine Ballet Theater, on Saturday, Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 general admission.

The Grand Theatre (1575 S. State, 801-957-3322) presents a unique interpretation of Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale with the musical Perdida. Set in the era of the dons in pre-Revolution Mexico, it features a book by Salt Lake Acting Company playwright-in-residence Kathleen Cahill (Harbur Gate) and songs by Deborah Wicks La Puma. Performances run Oct. 12-28; tickets are $10-$20.

Artists Rebecca Klundt, Elise Ostraff and Namon Bills combine the worlds of canonized scripture and digital-age short-form communication in the exhibition Sacred Texting at Finch Lane Gallery (1340 E. 100 South, 801-596-5000), now through Nov. 17.

Actor/comedian and F.O.S. (friend of Sandler) Nick Swardson brings his stand-up to Wiseguys Gateway (194  S. 400 West, 801-532-5233) Oct. 13-14, 7 & 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 general admission.
