The Utah arts & entertainment scene is too big to be contained in the print pages of one City Weekly issue. Here are more events for your consideration this week.

Local author Dave Butler (pictured) presents The Giant's Seat—the latest installment in his Clockwork Charlie fantasy series about a boy who learns he is a mechanical creation of his inventor father—at Provo Library (550 N. University Ave., Provo) on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 7 p.m. Places in signing line reserved for those who purchase a copy of the book at The King's English (1511 S. 1500 East, kingsenglish.com)

Tonight (Wednesday Aug. 2) at Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre (300 Wakara Way), conductor Randall Craig Fleischer leads the Utah Symphony in a performance of film music by the legendary John Williams. Tickets are $15-$41; gates open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. performance.

Young fans of anime gather at the Salt Lake County Library's Viridian Center (8030 S. 1825 West) for the annual ToshoCon convention Aug. 4-5, 4 p.m.-10 p.m. daily. Vendors sell anime-themed items, and attendees can attend panels, participate in cosplay contests and even share their original art. Attendance is limited to youth age 12-19; admission is free but may be limited on a space-available basis.

Logan hosts the annual Utah Ukelele Festival at Willow Park (450 W. 700 South, Logan) on Aug. 5, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. for a day of performances, workshops and vendors, plus open mic competition.
