We're finally out of October, which means the local release scene kinda dries up until we get past the Thanksgiving hump, which we'll discuss later. For now, shows are hit-and-miss, and we've only got one happening this weekend. But first, scan through all the digital releases that took place this past week, then join us below to talk about the one awesome show.

Tonight at Diabolical Records, we'll be seeing the latest from Choir Boy. This is an SLC-based alternative dream-pop band made up of some badass musicians, including Adam Klopp, Katrina Marie, Rick Peterson, Bret Meisenbach, Jacob Hall, Kyle Hooper, Chaz Costello and Alyssa Pyper. That combination of people right there represents the influence of 15 different bands between SLC and Provo, which shows you the amount of talent fueling this project. Their debut album, Passive With Desire, is melodic and provocative, with a hint of new wave and lullaby—it's a perfect alternative album for those not interested in the rock side of the genre. You can pick up a copy tonight as they'll be throwing a costume party release show at the record shop, with Mooninite and Burmese Python opening. The show starts at 8 p.m. and it totally free to attend; come in costume and enjoy yourself.
