Local Releases: Finding The Right Mood Music
Brand new music from Fitfox, Problem Daughter, Midnight Mood and more.

The next week's worth of release shows is an interesting mix of folk, rock, pop and punk—a little something for everyone who vaguely follows the rock scene in Utah. But before we get into the latest release shows, below you'll find a dozen local albums released online. I highly suggest giving each one a listen and finding something you'll enjoy, like the jazzy tunes from Midnight Mood. When you're done looking through those, join us down below to talk concerts.

The first show we're going to discuss is Hive Riot. Now technically, this album has been out for a while, and our own Alex Springer did a nice write-up on the duo last month, so we're not covering a lot of new ground here. They're going to be at Velour playing with Mindy Gledhill and Coral Bones tomorrow night. Meanwhile, up in SLC at Kilby, Kitfox will be releasing their latest album. This is another band I won't need to elaborate much on, as Brian Staker wrote about them in this week's issue of City Weekly. When you're done with the article, head over to Kilby Court where you can snag a copy of their beautiful indie folk album To Keep You Company tomorrow night, as the band plays with Emily Brown and Brian Bingham. Tickets are $6 and the doors open at 7 p.m.
Finally, looking ahead to Wednesday, Feb. 24, we'll see the latest release from Problem Daughter go digital. The four-piece punk rockers from SLC have had a badass career in SLC, releasing a number of EPs and singles since 2009, as well as three full-length albums. The band recently signed with Dying Scene Records, just in time to release their fourth full-length album, Fits Of Disorganized Boredom. You can catch them next Saturday at The Underground as they play with Wearing Thin, WickedBears and Pop Warner Music. The show is $5 and music starts around 7 p.m.
