Wine (Booze) Wednesday: Halloween Spooky Juice - aka Keith Richards' Nuclear Waste

When Keith Richards' arrived in the NPR studios in New York City recently to promote his new solo album Crosseyed Heart, he did so with cigarettes in hand and a plastic container of what he calls "Nuclear Waste." 

According to Richards, he began drinking his unique combination of vodka and orange "juice" because, "Whiskey wasn’t agreeing with me anymore. The old body couldn’t take it. Brandy is a killer, and wine is best with food, so somehow I settled on this. Plenty of ice. Lovely."

Richards' Nuclear Waste cocktail would make for an ideal Halloween adult beverage. Just call it "Spooky Juice" on that day. 

Here's the easy recipe. 

Ingredients: 

Premium quality vodka (Rubinoff is Richards' favorite)

Orange soda such as Fanta or Sunkist

Ice


Over plenty of ice in a glass, mix together 2 parts vodka with 1 part orange soda. Enjoy it to the sound of "I Put a Spell on You."
