A coalition of groups concerned about holding law enforcement accountable for their actions has released a survey of political candidates' views on policing issues.

Among the topics that the coalition sought the candidates' perspective on were the use of body cams, the need for an independent prosecution of cops alleged to be committing illegal acts, training for dealing with the mentally ill and other vulnerable populations, incarceration rates and more transparency.

Mayoral candidates Ralph Becker and Jackie Biskupski responded, as did city council candidates Nate Salazar, Tracey Harty and Andrew Johnston. Charlie Luke  sent a short letter, but Derek Kitchen, running against Salazar for District 4, and Van Turner, running against Johnston for District 2, did not respond.
The coalition includes members of Utahns for Peaceful Resolution, Red Shirt Families, Cop Watch, Racially Just Utah and Utah Against Police Brutality.
