IMAX theaters get an exclusive run of The Walk (opens in general release Oct. 9), which gets past some tedious set-up to provide thrilling moments capturing a tightrope walk between the Twin Towers in 1974. Sleeping With Other People aims for a 21st-century When Harry Met Sally vibe, but can't find chemistry to match its crudeness. The French drama Breathe captures the emotional volatility of adolescent female friendships beautifully, before an ill-advised resolution. The documentary Prophet's Prey meanders a bit through its story of FLDS leader Warren Jeffs, but is riveting when it focuses on him as perhaps the scariest movie monster of 2015.

MaryAnn Johanson raves about the gripping tension and moral complexity in the War-on-Drugs thriller Sicario (pictured).

Eric D. Snider praises the Austrian psychological thriller Goodnight Mommy, with creepy identical twins convinced their bandaged mother might not actually be their mother.

In this week's feature review, The Martian crafts an entertaining, inspiring story of a marooned astronaut into a tale where the real hero is the scientific method.
