Thanks, in part, to innovations in winemaking technology over the past 20 or so years, you don't have to spend a fortune to drink good wine or to stock a wine cellar.

And, like me, perhaps you don't have that fortune to do so even if you wanted to.

Well, I'm happy to report that you can buy bottles of very good wine for under $20 - in some cases, under $10. Here is one of my current favorites.

I'd travel to Argentina for this tremendous Malbec value: Bodega Achaval-Ferrer Malbec ($19.99).

It's a terrific South American Malbec that sells in Utah for about five bucks less than elsewhere, so take advantage of the deal.

Founded by winemaker Santiago Achaval and partners, Achaval-Ferrer winery is known for its old-vine fincas (estates) and for being one of Argentina's premier winemakers.

Achaval-Ferrer Malbec is dense and solid-bodied, with black and red fruits flavors and aromas, good minerality, and smooth, silky tannins. It's a no-brainer to enjoy it with grilled or smoked meats.
