A mid-July 2015 story in Fusion provides insight into the specialized world of Mormon porn that riffs off and even explores aspects of sexuality and repression within Mormon culture. Writer Isha Aran interviews several players in Mormon porn, including Maxine Holloway, a six-year sex industry veteran who plays Sister Rose, "the Mormon MILF."

Mormon and ex-Mormon fans of these nuggets of LDS-themed seduction and hardcore porn, writes Aran, find in this particular niche of the sex biz an exploration of the world of sexual fantasy within a LDS culture context—everything from temple garments to characters with various church callings—that can prove liberating, Particularly for  people who are struggling with what some deem the sexually repressive nature of a faith that, for example, while permitting gay and lesbian members, insists they be celibate.

She writes, “But the genius of Mormon porn lies in its intention: Its blasphemy doesn’t come from a place of wanton disregard or disrespect. It comes largely from the pain of former worshipers’ rejection, from repression of identity, from coping, and from acceptance of oneself. And sex, obviously.”

Who knew porn could be good for you?

The last time I wrote about an ex-Mormon porn star was a feature on Belladonna (pictured) called Sex Machine. I wonder what she would make of the coy narrative set-ups that Mormon-themed porn employs to frame its fleshy entanglements?
