A pair of 2015 Sundance award winners are among the new releases joining Pixar's Inside Out in Utah theaters this weekend.

Scott Renshaw enjoys the sharp comic writing of Dope (pictured)—the Sundance editing award-winner about a straight-A student who winds up with a backpack full of drugs—even as it tries to juggle different tones and subplots. Another Sundance winner, the documentary The Wolfpack, addresses the fascinating story of brothers raised almost entirely in a New York apartment in a way that's a better subject than it is an actual movie. Saint Laurent—a biopic about the pioneering fashion designer—plays with a uniquely stylized way of exploring its subject's life, but drags on far too long. The documentary Live from New York! looks at the institution of Saturday Night Live while mostly regurgitating familiar old story-lines, and ignoring more interesting present-day behind-the-scenes material.

In this week's feature review, Scott Renshaw welcomes Pixar back to feature animation with Inside Out's magnificent exploration of parenthood, adolescence and real human emotion.
