High-profile sequels and some intriguing art-house offerings provide a variety of new options for Utah movie releases.

Scott Renshaw struggles with finding the line between hilarious and cringe-inducing in the unevenly effective aca-follow-up Pitch Perfect 2 (pictured), while the struggles of an Israeli woman to obtain a divorce make for compelling—but sometimes static—drama in Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem.

MaryAnn Johanson likes the intriguing look not just at Christian Dior but at the behind-the-scenes workers who create high fashion in the documentary Dior and I.

In this week's feature reviews, MaryAnn Johanson finds surprising modernity and welcome complexity in the new adaptation of Thomas Hardy's Far from the Madding Crowd, and Eric D. Snider rejoices in the wall-to-wall bonkers that is George Miller's post-apocalyptic action spectacle Mad Max: Fury Road.
