Glad You Asked: Weekend To-Dos

Dear GYA, What a bummer! Now that reporters are banned from Temple Square, how will we possibly be informed about all the exciting ins-and-outs and crazy happenings of General Conference... besides watching it on television and listening to it on the radio? Fuck. Anything happening this weekend besides General Conference? - Russ Wathurlle, Cottonwood Heights---

Russ, you could argue that this is a maneuver to remove any unnecessary spotlight on Ordain Women, but yeah, you're right. It's total bullshit. Now I guess we'll never know about all the shenanigans at General Conference. Here's what's happening this weekend, starting with Friday's events: 

The Salt Lake Bees will be hosting the Sacramento River Cats tonight at Smith's Ballpark. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $5.  

The Utah Jazz are at home taking on the New Orleans Pelicans tonight at 7 p.m. Tickets start at 7 p.m.  

Cult Leader will be hosting a CD Release party tonight at the Shred Shed. Subrosa, Wearing Thin and Die Off  are also performing. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7.  

Stand-up comedian and Price is Right host Drew Carey will be at Wiseguys West Valley this evening. There's two shows, one at 7 p.m. and another at 9 p.m. Tickets are $25.

The Blue Man Group will be at Kingsbury Hall tonight. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $35. 


Saturday's events: %u205E

The Winter Farmers Market will be going down at the Rio Grand Depot today at 10 a.m. Admission is free. 

If you're into rodeos, checkout the PBR Velocity Tour at the Maverik Center today at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $10.

Singer/songwriter Christina Perri will be at The Depot this evening. Tickets are $30. The show starts at 8 p.m.  

French psycho-pop band La Femme will be at Urban Lounge. Koala Temple and Jawwzz are also on the bill. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5. 

Local stand-up comedian Jay Whittaker will be at Wiseguys Ogden tonight at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10.  

Swedish DJ duo Cazzette will be on stage at Park City Live. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $25.


Sunday's events: 

Brewvies will be showing a free screening of Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey tonight at 8 p.m.  

Piper Down will be hosting the popular pub trivia Geeks Who Drink tonight at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Pop-punk quartet Audacity will be at Urban Lounge this evening.  Foster Body and Pest Rulz will warm it up. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are free! 

It's Funk and Soul night at Bourbon House with DJ Street Jesus. The music starts at 9 p.m. Admission is free!
