Glad You Asked: Valentine's Day Weekend Edition

Dear GYA, When you're younger you probably don't think much about VD. But I assure you, as you get older that burning sensation will remind you why it's important to share VD with the people you love and sometimes, even strangers. So, whether you're in a relationship or single, I hope everyone catches some VD spirit today. Anything happening where I can spread some VD love? - Wanda Frogurt, Sugar House ---

Wanda, this is why I'm terrified to date and will most definitely be staying home watching the new season of House of Cards. But anyway, here's what's happening this weekend, starting with Friday's events. 

Pop-bluegrass band The Infamous String Dusters will be at Park City Live this evening. The show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $18. 

Death-core band Attila will be on stage at In The Venue tonight. I See Stars, Capture The Crown, Ice Nine Kills and Myka Relocate are also on the bill. The doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20. 

Garage rock duo The Pack A.D. will be at Kilby Court. Deadtooth and Supermoon are also performing. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.  

Stand-up comedian Greg Warren will be on stage at Wise Guys West Valley. There will be two shows, one at 7:30 p.m. and another at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $12.  

Saturday's events:  

Up at Brighton Resort, SLUG Magazine is hosting the ski and snowboard event SLUG Games Goes Postal starting at 10 a.m. Admission is free.  

The Winters Farmers Market will be going down at the Rio Grande Depot today at 10 a.m. Admission is free.  

Rock band Creature Double Feature will be at Kilby Court this evening. Koala Temple and Nostalgia are also on the bill. Tickets are $6. The show starts at 7 p.m. 

Legendary rock band The Pixies will be at The Saltair tonight. Doors open at 6: 30 p.m. Tickets start at $33.

Husband and wife indie-pop duo Mates of State will be at Urban Lounge. The Circulars will warm things up. The show starts at 8 p.m. tickets are $18.  

The Banff Film Fest will be happening at the Egyptian Theater in Ogden. The films start at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $18.  

Max Pain & The Groovies will be performing at The Garage On Beck tonight. Dark Seas and Jesus Sons are also on the bill. The show starts at 8 p.m. Admission is $5. 

Local bands Cameron The Public and Mindy Gledhill will be at The State Room tonight. Tickets are $18. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Sunday's events:  

Psyche-pop band Incan Abraham will be at Kilby Court tonight.  Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7. 

Piper Down will be hosting the popular pub trivia contest Geeks Who Drink. The quizzin' starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.  

DJ Street Jesus will be at Bourbon House this evening for Funk and Soul Night. The music starts at 9 p.m. There is no cover.
