Glad You Asked: Weekend To-Dos

Gary, I can't get this horrible image out of my brain. Here's what's up for this weekend, starting with Friday's events: 

Tonight is City Weekly's Critic Pick Movie Night, which means you can catch the Christmas classic Gremlins for free on the big screen! This is the last night of the Brewvies Kickstarter campaign, so we're catering the party and giving away tons of food and prizes! The party starts at 6 and the movie screens at 7.

Punk band Moneypenny will be at Burt's Tiki Lounge this evening. Blinded by Truth will open up. The music starts at 8. There's an $8 cover. 

At Urban Lounge, SLUG Magazine will be hosting its local music showcase, Localized, with music from The Circulars, Fossil Arms and Alexander Ortega. There's a $5 cover. The show starts at 8 p.m. 

Bands Fission Breakers and Edymund Wayne will be at Kilby Court tonight. The tunes start at 8. Tickets are $6.  

The Garage on Beck will be throwing a Christmas Rockabilly Luau with the Rhythm Combo and The Haole Boys. There's a $7 cover. The show starts at 8 p.m. 

The Weber County Library Southwest Branch will be hosting a Mario Cart Tournament for anyone 18 and under. Admission is free. The party starts at 4 p.m.   


Saturday's Events:  

George Lopez, the voice of Grouchy in Smurfs and Smurfs 2, will be onstage at the Maverik Center tonight. The show starts at 6. Tickets start at $51. 

The Utah Jazz are at home taking on the San Antonio Spurs tonight. Tip-off is at 7. Tickets start at $10.   

The rapper Reverie will be at Kilby Court this evening. Vel The Wonder, Klassy, Verbal Assault, Dave Allen and CLDMKRS are also on the bill. The show starts at 7. Tickets are $15 at the door. 

Folkie local band Bip Bip Bip will be throwing a record-release party tonight at Urban Lounge.Big Wild Wings, Strong Words and Guard Cats are also performing. Tickets are $5. The show starts at 8. 

Today is Demo Day up at Canyons Resort. Try out next yea'rs best ski and snowboard gear for free! 

Comedian Tommy Johnagin will be at Wiseguys West Valley tonight. Tickets are $15. Shows are at 7:30 and 9:30.  


Sunday's events:  

DJ Street Jesus will be at Bourbon House for Sunday's Funk and Soul Night. There's no cover. The music starts at 9.   

Australian singer/songwriter Toby Beard will be at The State Room. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25.

Indie-blues band Crow Moses will be onstage at The Shred Shed. The Red Bennies are also performing. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $6.
