Dear GYA, Here in the U.S. of A., we like our federal government closed and our national parks open, darn it! So, today, I will enter Zion National Park, even though it's closed ... because of the current federal government shutdown ... that my party supported ... and started ... and is now trying to distance itself from with publicity stunts like this because everyone is really, really pissed off about it.---Anyway, anything else happening today that I can illegally enter to prove my patriotism? -- Sen. Steve Urquhart, (R) St. George

Steve, You really shouldn't break the law just to prove that your a dedicated politician; it's sort of counter-intuitive to why you have your job in the first place. For starters, you could try reasoning with the Democrats. But, since we both know that's not gonna happen, here are a few things going down today that would appreciate your business -- legally:

The giant hair of British pop-punk band You Me At Six will be on display at In The Venue, conveniently timed for 6 p.m. Cute Is What We Aim For, Conditions, and Dinosaur Pile-Up are also on the bill. Tickets are $17.

Texas-based blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr. will be onstage at The Depot this evening. Max Frost also will be performing. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $26.

Producer and remix artist Bluetech will be onstage at Urban Lounge. Tickets are $14. The show starts at 9 p.m.
