Dear GYA, A great way to beat the heat is to go take a nap at any local movie theater, preferably one that's showing White House Down. Calm yourself as this film gently lulls you to sleep with a mysterious plot and sleepy jokes from Jamie Fox and Channing Tatum. English folk band The Melodic will be at Kilby Court this evening. The Blank Tapes and Charles Ellsworth are also on the bill. Tickets are $7. The all-ages show starts at 7.
Dirty-blues band Little Hurricane will be at Urban Lounge. Tickets are $8. The show starts at 9 p.m.
Tonight at Brewvies, it's Film Buff Night. This evening's film of choice will be the 1991 classic Christen Slater comedy Pump Up The Volume. The show starts at 10. Admission is free!
