For the fourth straight year, Park City's High West Distillery & Saloon is hosting High West Derby Day, a celebration of the Kentucky Derby. --- The event takes place this Saturday, from 2 to 6 p.m., at High West and includes live music, a Derby-inspired buffet, contests and a raffle. Sorry, but beverages are not included in the ticket price.
On Derby Day, High West will also release its newest spirit: The Barreled Boulevardier, which is straight Bourbon whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitter liqueur.
Executive Chef James Dumas' extensive Derby Day buffet includes hors d'oeuvres, charcuterie, house-pickled crudites, a cheese station, poached salmon, mixed green salad, and classic Derby dishes like burgoo, Kentucky's famous stew, and also Derby hot browns: a roasted wild-turkey sandwich created by chef Fred K. Schmidt at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.
Desserts include chocolate double-rye pecan pie; Silver Oat Whiskey-laced lemon meringues; Bourbon-laced panna cotta; and housemade s'mores.
Contests include prizes for the Best ladies' Derby hat, and for the men: the most "boulevardier-like" attire.
Tickets are $35 per person in advance or $40 at the door. Click here to purchase advance tickets online.
