Dear GYA, I hereby proclaim that Jurassic Park 3D will be a complete waste of my time this weekend.  There, I said it. Why does Hollywood insist on remaking every damned movie into 3-D? Third dimension! Hey, everybody, we've got a third dimension over here! See, nobody cares. Anything happening this weekend better than seeing a 3-D pile of triceratops shit?  - Marcus Bromentine, Midvale---

Marcus, Jurassic Park is an American classic. Personally, I'd love to see Samuel L. Jackson say, "Hold onto your butts" in 3-D. But if that;s not your thing,  here's what's up this weekend. Let's start with Friday:

- Head to the Woodshed for an evening of sweet chick bands entitled Ladies That Rock. The lineup inlcudes Minx, Bombshell Academy and The Wild Ones. The show starts at 9.

- Folk-rock band Little Green Cars will be at The State Room this evening. Tickets are $12. The doors open at 8.

- Progressive-folk band  Elephant Revival will be at the State Room this evening. Doors open at 8. Tickets are $14.

- Indie bands Allred, Minor Birds and Kat Jones will be at Kilby Court this evening. The show starts at 7.  Tickets are $6.
