Provo, it seems, always has the capacity to surprise. Not only is it a little town with a big musical heart, it's also the nation's leader when it comes to Republicans' and Tea Partiers' enthusiasm for flirting.---

That's according to an index of the most flirtatious conservative cities, compiled by Flirt.com, which describes itself as "an online dating service for the romantically adventurous."

Flirtation is defined "as the average amount of activity by our existing members in these states." In order to assess which cities had the top score on the "Flirtation Index," the website counted "winks" and "stars" sent and given by its members. The political affiliation of each city was determined by electoral voting.

Provo came out ahead of the field with a score of 93, with Allentown, Penn., at 90 and Anchorage at 89. The rest of the cities on the conservative front trailed far behind. Even West Valley City made the list, with a respectable "flirt score" of 52.

Provo and the other top-four conservative cities also beat out the to-five liberal cities, rendering good old Provo No. 1 in the United States for flirting—at least as far as its online population of what Flirt.com called "highly flirtatious people" is concerned.

Flirt notes that Provo is home to the LDS Church-run BYU: "This is one conservative city. But, when it comes to flirting online, they rank #1"
