Dear GYA, It seems like once a week, there's news of a sinkhole devouring someone. I'll be the first to admit that I'm deathly afraid of many things -- rabid koalas, Ebola and, if the circumstances are just right, rabid koalas wielding Ebola. Now, it seems I  need to add to my list the probability of being sucked into a damned sinkhole. Anything sinkhole-free happening tonight? - Jessica Hornboggle, Park City---

Jessica, These are all things you should be deathly afraid of. In fact, any one of these scenarios is probable in Utah. But, here are a few options for today that should be safe:

Seattle-based indie band Pickwick will be performing at Urban Lounge this evening. Radiation City will be opening things up. The show starts at 9. Tickets are $12

At Energy Solutions Arena, check out the first batch of games for the West Regional of the NCAA Men's College Basketball Tourney. Today's games include No. 1-seeded Gonzaga vs. the No. 16-seeded Southern; No. 8 Pittsburgh vs. No. 9 Wichita State; No. 3 New Mexico vs. No. 14 Harvard; and No. 6 Arizona vs. No. 11 Belmont. On StubHub, tickets are currently starting at $70.

Alta Ski Resort will be kicking off  the 2013 Snowflake Festival at 6 p.m. The Alta Arts council is throwing a four-day party in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Expect a dance party with two DJs, gnome hunt, field day and bialthlon, Backcountry Film Fest, ski with a ranger, Chili Cook-off, huge drawing and more. Check out the full schedule of events at AltaArts.org.
