What’s new on the brain sucker tonight:

Smash (NBC) Two-Hour Season Premiere: Season 1 of Smash began strong (Music! Lights! Drama! Leotards!), but got a little soapy-loopy in the home stretch (when there are more concurrent affairs than Debra Messing has old-lady scarves, it’s probably time to cool it). ---The new Season 2 showrunners’ solution was to fire half of the cast, refocus on the music and bring in a real Broadway diva (Jennifer Hudson) to show Karen (Katharine McPhee) how it’s done. Smash 2.0 will also, mercifully, feature other stage productions than 2012’s Marilyn Monroe musical (we’re led to believe that Bombshell became a massive hit … riiight), as well as more original music—a risky move, since viewers hate songs they’ve never heard before (just ask Nashville). Could work, could bomb, but at least there’s a Will & Grace semi-reunion coming. Faaabuloous!

Emily Owens M.D. (The CW) Series Finale: Not the worst show ever aired on The CW … but right the fuck up there. Don’t sigh relief just yet, Women in Medicine: There’s still Hart of Dixie, Grey’s Anatomy and, now, Monday Mornings. Courage.

Justified, Archer (FX) Not only do you get to watch the excellent FX drama Justified for free on the big screen at Brewvies Cinema Pub (677 S. 200 West; 21+) at 8 p.m. Tuesdays, you now also get new episodes of the even excellent-er FX comedy Archer at 9 p.m., courtesy of True TV and Brewvies. You’re welcome.

Also new tonight:
The Taste, The Bachelor (ABC); NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Vegas (CBS); Betty’s White’s 2nd Annual 90th Birthday (NBC); Raising Hope, New Girl, The Mindy Project (Fox); Hart of Dixie, (The CW); Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game (ABC Family); Top Gear (History); Tosh.0, The Burn With Jeff Ross (Comedy Central); Storage Wars Texas, Southie Rules (A&E); The Ultimate Fighter (FX); Snooki & Jwoww (MTV); Dance Moms (Lifetime); Total Blackout, Face Off (Syfy); The Joe Schmo Show (Spike); Real Husbands of Hollywood (BET); The Bad Girls Club (Oxygen); Cougar Town (TBS)
