Dear GYA, I remember when National Pancake Day actually meant something. It used to be about family, friends and not tipping your server after jamming a free short stack down your throat. Anything happening today after I bring National Pancake Day back to its roots? - Curtis Frenchies, Spanish Fork---
Curtis, I hate how commercialized National Pancake Day has become -- it's so corporate now. Here are some things to do once you're done with your short stack:
Tennessee-based indie band Glossary will be performing at Bar Deluxe. Glossary's 2011 release Long Live All of Us is a mixed bag of American music with hints of R&B-swinging horns and rhythms, gospel-soul swagger, twangy pedal-steel licks and nostalgic rock. Local band Lady Murasaki will be opening. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7 at the door, $5 in advance.
True TV and Brewvies will be showing a free screening of Justified, followed by Archer tonight on the big screen. The double-feature starts at 8.
Legendary saxophonist Branford Marsalis will be performing at Kingsbury Hall. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $34.50-64.50.
