Dear GYA, This year, for my New Year's resolution, I've decided to stop using annoying overused words like, "swag," "viral," "artisan," "Kanye West," and I'm thinkin' I'll slowly ween off of "epic." Oh, yeah, I almost forgot about that unyielding beast "YOLO." Anything happening today that's really really epic? Ah, damnit. - Mandy Roughelstought, Magna---

Mandy, Don't be too hard on yourself. In the media world, "epic," "viral," and "artisan" will probably never go away. There are only so many adjectives reporters can use. All we can do is pray that the adjective gods are kind to 2013. Be strong. Here are some decent options for today:

The Rose Wagner Center will be hosting Repertory Dance Theatre's presentation of Winterdance, a three-day winter-intensive workshop where dance enthusiasts can expect pointers in modern-dance technique, body conditioning, RDT repertory and personal coaching from RDT company members. Workshop price is $150. The dancin' starts at 9 a.m.

For some hard-hitting local hockey action, check out the Utah Grizzlies as they face off with the Stockton Thunder tonight at the Maverik Center. The game starts at 7.

Studio 115 will be showcasing the play Zion Curtain tonight. The first work by U of U theater student Curtis Russell, the play is about the collision of ideology and civil rights, using the words of real people to trace the roots and show the effects of reactionary, homophobic doctrines in the Mormon Church. Admission is free. The show starts at 7:30.

A few more options for today:

- DJ Chaseone2 will be performing at Gracie's, beginning at 9 p.m.

- Indie band Hearts & Hands will be onstage at The Shred Shed. Doors open at 9 p.m.

- The Urban Lounge will be hosting Boots to the Moon, Coyote Hoods, Bip Bip Bip and Shadow Puppets tonight. Doors are at 9 p.m.
