Dear GYA, Oh, hey, cool beans -- the Pope is on Twitter. I suppose that means I'd better hurry up and make an account before my smart-ass kids start joking that the Pope is hipper than their old mom, you know? But first, I need to figure out how to do this damned double-click thing -- uh, Jeeves isn't helping at all. Anything happening today easier than the Twitter? -- Cindy Washintert, Sandy---

Cindy, If you need help with Twitter, just hire a personal assistant to do your tweeting; that's what the Pope does. Anyway, here are some options for today:

American folk-rock singer Brandi Carlile will be onstage at the State Room tonight. In 2010, the singer was nominated for a GLAAD Media award for "Outstanding Music Artist." Her album Live At Benaroya Hall with The Seattle Symphony reached number 14 on the Top Rock Albums chart. The show starts at 7.

Abravanel Hall will be hosting A Kurt Bestor Christmas. Throughout the western U.S., "A Kurt Bestor Christmas" has been a well-loved tradition seen by over 20,000 fans each year. The event features over 45 musicians, sophisticated lighting effects, storytelling and humor. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Stand-up comedian Darren Carter will be at Wiseguy's Trolley Square. After being spotted by hip-hop superstar Snoop Dogg for his dead-on impression of the rapper, he has performed multiple times at Snoop's annual family reunion. Carter has also been featured on "Chelsea Lately," and was named a MySpace Comedy 'comic to watch.' The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

A few more worthwhile events:

-  The Joan of Arc play Martyr's Crossing will be performed at Echo Theatre tonight at 7:30 p.m.

- Gracie's will be hosting DJ Chase One2, starting at 9 p.m.

- Metal band Zombiecock will be at Burt's Tiki Lounge at 9 p.m.
