Dear GYA, I'm a roller coaster of emotions over here. Do you think this whole Hostess-shutting-down thing was just a well-executed marketing ploy? When I heard the news that we could no longer enjoy preservative-pumped snack cakes, I filled my living room with over 2,000 cases of Twinkies. Now, I hear they're not going out of business? What the hell, man? Anything happening after I eat my way to the front door? - Frankie Murdock, Midvale ---

Frankie, Yeah, you messed up. But it's okay; I once bought whole bunch of Beanie Babies back in the late '90s, thinking they would be worth a fortune. Now, I use them as Christmas gifts for people I don't like. Here are some options for this evening:

Heavy-rock band Red Fang will be performing at The Urban Lounge. Currently, the band is on tour in the United States promoting its Chris Funk-produced album, Murder the Mountains. Black Tusk and Indian Handcrafts kick off the head-banging rage. Doors open at 9.

True TV and Brewvies will be showing a free screening of the FX original series Sons of Anarchy on the big screen. A rough-and-tough gang of bikers struggles to balance the small-town lifestyle with the consistent urge to wear leather pants and shoot people. The show starts at 8.

The stand-up comedy showcase Comedy Roadkill will be going down at The Complex. This weekly free comedy show features the funniest up-and-coming comedians in Utah, followed by the best open mic in the state. Sign-up for open mic is from 7:30 to 8. Admission is FREE. Must be 21.

A few other worthwhile events:

- The Herb and Dorothy art exhibit is on display at Nox Contemporary all day today.

- Funk band Red Rock Hot Club will be onstage at Gracie's, beginning at 9 p.m.

- Oscar's Social Club is hosting Karaoke Entourage, starting at 9 p.m.
