Et tu, Brute? Winter storm Brutus dumped enough snow in the mountains for several local ski resorts to open up earlier this week or this weekend. Here’s a list of which is opening when. ---

Brighton had the honor of opening first on Nov. 13, followed closely by Solitude on Nov. 14, with its Apex, Link and Moonbeam lifts running. Snowbird opened Nov. 15, and goes into the season with new snowmaking equipment installed over the summer that will allow it to double its snowmaking capability.

Nov. 16, sees Alta start its 75th anniversary season, dating back to the winter of 1938-39. Brian Head, in Southern Utah, will also open on Saturday, Nov. 17. Sunday, Nov. 18, brings the opening of Park City Mountain Resort. Lifts start up at 9 a.m. and the traditional “Blessing of the Snow” by members of the Northern Ute Tribe will take place at noon.

The Ogden Valley resorts will open next week, with Powder Mountain the day before Thanksgiving on Nov. 21, Snowbasin on Thanksgiving and Wolf Mountain the day after, on Nov. 23.

Nov. 23 is also the day Canyons opens with three new terrain parks -- Painted Horse Progression Park, Transitions Terrain Park and Elwoods Natural Zone.

December openings start with Sundance on Dec. 7, followed by Deer Valley on Dec. 8 with its 21st annual Celebrity Ski Fest, which features racing and live music.

Eagle Point, located near Beaver, is set to open on Dec. 21. Beaver Mountain, outside Logan, has not yet announced an opening date.
