Ive got four releases to talk about, including a few that happened earlier this week and two shows for the weekend. --- We're going to start with a surprise release that crept in with little warning, and that's the debut album from Ryan Darton. Darton (seen to the side) may be a familiar name to some of you as one of the members of Kid Theodore before the band relocated to L.A., broke up and reformed as Toy Bombs. Switching from the bass to become his own front man and hone a softer indie rock sound, Darton went to work on his own material and cranked out his solo debut, I Am A Moth. He actually had a release show at Velour this past Tuesday, but you can snag a copy of it from his Bandcamp site, or off one of many other ways you can find on his website.

Last night, we saw the debut release from Thalia Condo, a Latin indie/pop singer who has actually been known more for behind the scenes in the media working for several local TV stations while working on her music on the side. In 2010, she put her music career in the forefront of her life, playing gigs around town to earn money to record her album. Earlier this year, she pushed out two singles, but this week we saw the release of her self-titled EP. She had a killer release show at Urban Lounge last night, topped off with her albums being readily available on iTunes.

Going over to shows happening this weekend, tonight at The Sugar Space we'll see the debut release from Omeed The Nag. Omeed has been one of those rising names in local circles who's been on everyone's lips as of late, but not much is being elaborated on because they wanted to see what he had in store for an album. Apparently, he's been hard at work the past few months putting it together and keeping it under lock and key. Tracks barely leaked out online yesterday, and from what I've heard, there's great promise from the young emcee with his paced delivery and love for the classic samples. Omeed's debut album, Status (which you can see him holding), will be released tonight as part of the Hip-Hop Roots Salt Lake City showcase put on by Wasatch Renaissance, playing along side GeorgeLife, Black Socrates, PigPen, Jake Doja, Youth-In-Eyes, DJ Vagif, Malevolent MC and Dusk Raps. Just $10, starting at 6 p.m.

And then tomorrow night, we'll see the latest release from Daisy & The Moonshines. The five-piece bluesy-groove grunge rockers have been around just over a year and have already made a name for themselves as one of the best live acts in SLC. The group released their debut EP, Daisy, back in December 2011 to some mixed reviews but that really didn't matter to them, as people were checking them out at shows constantly. The group are now back with their second EP, the appropriately titled Moonshine, which shows some fine progression from the band as they step away from gritty and start putting together well-constructed works. You can catch them tomorrow night for their album release show at Urban Lounge, playing alongside Folk Hogan and L'anarchiste. Just $5, starting at 10 p.m.
