Marc Maron Names SLC: Waffle City

During a recent visit to SLC to perform at Wiseguys comedy club, Marc Maron -- host of his wildly popular WTF with Marc Maron podcast -- visted Bruges Waffles and Frites and left impressed. ---

In fact, Maron was so enamored with the Belgian waffles at Bruges that he proclaimed, "Salt Lake City is no longer the Mormon City to me; it's the Waffle City. Holy shit! This Bruges place ... I don't know what they do, but these are magic waffles!"

"The people of Salt Lake City - many of them - are wandering around wearing magic underwear. I don't know if they realize that they have MAGIC WAFFLES!" 

Speaking of SLC, Mormons, and those amazing Bruges waffles, Maron said: "I've grown to really like Salt Lake City and not mind the LDS. There is a sterility to the city, but the folks are very pleasant. I've become a bit fascinated with the LDS, and being in the city that houses the corporate headquarters is intense. I'm not as freaked out as I used to be. Also, for some reason, the best Belgian waffles I've ever had -- no, wait -- one of the best things I have every put in my mouth is in Salt Lake City at Bruges. It's amazing how sugar and ice cream can shift your perception of even the weirdest, most peculiar religions. Powerful drug, that sugar."
