What’s new on the maker-smarter box tonight:

Grimm (NBC) Season Premiere: Already? NBC’s getting the jump on everyone this season, what with all of those Olympics sneak-peeks (yes, you’re still pissed off about Animal Practice last night—get over it). ---Grimm, about a Portland cop/supernatural monster hunter and his beer buddy/wolfman sidekick, was one of the few promising new Peacock series of last year (it has some Buffy/Angel creative DNA, and it’s not ABC’s lame, similarly fairytale-adjacent Once Upon a Time), and Season 2 looks to add more action and creepiness. You don’t have to be familiar with Season 1 to jump in now—but it wouldn’t hurt.

Stars Earn Stripes (NBC) Two-Hour Series Debut: Unfortunately, this is Grimm's lead-in, another shitty reality-competition. Retired General Wesley Clark and Dancing With the Stars’ Samantha Harris (yeah, that makes sense) send “stars” on “missions” and “military operations” to win … something. Our military deserves a far better “tribute” than this.

The Closer (TNT) Series Finale: Kyra Sedgwick is leaving—and since The Closer is a big-ass hit for TNT, now you get …

Major Crimes (TNT) Series Debut: Same show, same supporting cast, just with Mary McDonnell up front. Carry on.

Teen Wolf (MTV) Season Finale: America’s favorite lacrosse-playin’ non-adult-night dog signs off for Season 2 … and that’s all I got.

Also new tonight:
The Glass House, Bachelor Pad (ABC); Hotel Hell, Hell’s Kitchen (Fox); Remodeled (The CW); The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Bunheads (ABC Family); Pawn Stars (History); Intervention (A&E); Love & Hip-Hop, Single Ladies (VH1); The Real Housewives of New York City, Gallery Girls (Bravo); The Bad Girls Club: Mexico (Oxygen); Warehouse 13, Alphas (Syfy); WWE Raw (USA)
