Dear GYA, So, after watching the equestrian events in the Olympics today, I've decided I can't watch another second of this crap . Why don't they just give the medals to the horses? I mean, seriously, the riders aren't doing anything. I'll bet you could put chimps on top of those horses and get the same results. Hmm, I'd actually like to see that. Well, anything happening today that's better than chimps riding on horses? - Mark Cheddars---

Mark, you have to realize that there are a lot of sports that deserve to be in the Olympics more than the equestrian events, like rodeo, for one -- those guys deserve Olympic medals. But yeah, having chimps ride around on horses sounds like a winner, too. Here's what's going down today:

Speaking of equestrians, the Salt Lake County Fair will be going on at the Salt Lake County Equestrian Park and will feature a free concert from American Idol finalist Josh Gracin. Plus, there will be a Dutch-oven cook-off, a demolition derby and tons of animal shows. Admission is free but parking is $7. The fair starts at 6:30 p.m.

Canadian jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall will be performing at Red Butte this evening. The Grammy award-winning singer has sold over 15 million records worldwide and she's the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz charts. A little fun fact -- Krall has been married to Elvis Costello since 2003. The show starts at 7 p.m.

It's Wednesday, and that can only mean it's the geekiest day of the week, courtesy of the Big Shiny Geek Show Pub Quiz going down at Lucky 13. Winner of City Weekly's 2012 Best of Utah "Pub Quiz" award, this weekly trivia event is perfect for anyone who is completely filled with useless information and lacking a way to channel it. Seriously, these questions are tough. The quizzin' starts at 8 p.m.

A few more worthwhile events happening today:

- Wiseguys Comedy in Trolley Square will be hosting Open Mic Night, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

- The always free Lunch Bunch Concert Series will be starting up at the Gallivan Center at noon.

- Bicentennial Park in Sandy will be showing a free screening of Cars 2, starting at 9 p.m.
