Hang Out With Murder By Death!

What if you had the opportunity to cavort with your favorite band on an epic adventure, or even have them play a private show at your house? If your favorite band happens to be Murder by Death, now’s your chance.---
The Western-tinged indie-rock five-piece created a Kickstarter campaign to fund their sixth full-length album—and debut on Bloodshot Records—Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon, and with the most generous donations come some seriously awesome prizes. One of the first “items” to go was the chance to design a tattoo for one of the band members.
“That was like a joke idea I had, and I brought it up with our drummer, Dagan [Thogerson],” says frontman Adam Turla. “[I thought] ‘Hey, that would be kind of funny, get people laughing’—and [it was] one of the first things to go.” As of my chat with Turla, a design hadn’t been decided upon, but the Kickstarter page says that it can be anything—“Just don’t be a jerk.”
The Kickstarter campaign will not only help fund Murder by Death’s album, it’s also a gift from the band to their dedicated fans. “We are often asked to play weddings, parties, funerals. We would love to—really," says their Kickstarter page. "Want to head out with us on an adventure? Yep. So this is it! We found—we think—the perfect outlet to address this need we all have to experience each other and music, right here."
Other prizes include joining the Murder by Death book club—the band sends you a book each month for a year, with a note saying why they fancy it (!!)—a special-edition vinyl copy of Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon with a nifty, old-timey animation device called a zoetrope that spins on your record player (see video below); a signed poster and more.
The Kickstarter campaign ends Aug. 10. Get those pennies together …
