The post-holiday weekend brings wacky behavior from expectant couples, a fake totalitarian and a troupe of chimps. ---

The wackiest comes from Sacha Baron Cohen in The Dictator, playing the despotic ruler of a fake Middle Eastern nation who finds himself stranded and powerless in New York City. Freed from the Punk'd-style interviews that anchored his best-known films, Cohen immerses himself in his character and his outrageous sense of humor, resulting in a film that's virtually guaranteed to offend at least a little. There's goofy brilliance to be found in a satirist this gifted.

The laughs are fewer and farther between in What to Expect When You're Expecting, a multi-narrative story that has nothing whatsoever to do with the ubiquitous self-help manual of the same name. The best stuff comes from the wisdom of a group of caregiver dads, including Chris Rock and Thomas Lennon, but there's not nearly enough of that material to make up for the soppy, half-hearted melodrama strewn throughout the rest of it.

Finally, DisneyNature's latest feature Chimpanzee has Tim Allen narrate the story of an orphaned chimp adopted by the leader of his clan. Be wary of Allen's constant grunting--or better yet, just stick your fingers in your ears to enjoy the images from the creators of Planet Earth.
