For one, it was the decision to help a friend. For another, it was to sacrifice himself to save his son. But no matter what the choice, it was all about "them." ---

The theme this year at the Utah Arts Fear No Film movie festival is "the tipping point," a moment in each of the films where everything can change. From there, the films are further divided into subsections that revolve around the same tipping point. One such subsection is titled "Them;" the moment is within each of the characters.

The six films with the "Them" program varied in content and style. The Things My Father Never Taught Me is a humorous tale of a father trying to teach his son how to woo women -- even though his son is in preschool. The Ollaparo, however, is a dark and subtle film of a father's sacrifice for his son.

The rest of the programs will show throughout the remainder of the festival, with some re-showings, as well. If you're at the festival and need a break from the heat, come into the library auditorium and Fear No Film.
