Dear GYA, I can't believe Taylor Swift put me on blast in her song "Dear John." Damn it, people shouldn't go public about their relationships -- kinda like what I did with her, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson. Plus, her song isn't any good. It's not like "Your Body Is a Wonderland." That song is amazing.--- Anyways, I'm thinkin' about taking Alanis Morissette out for a date; I know she won't write a song about it. Any good date ideas? - John Mayer

John, dating Alanis Morissette could be a healthy move for you. And you're right, she's not the type to go and write a song about bad breakups. Good choice. Here are some date ideas for this evening:

Post-hardcore-angry-teen-rock band Thrice will be performing at In The Venue/Club Sound. Don't miss your only chance to see the celebrated rockers, as this is will be their final tour before an indefinite hiatus. The tour also includes Animals As Leaders and O' Brother. The show starts at 7 p.m.

When you offer beer with education, no one complains. In the first installment of three, The Utah Heritage Foundation will be hosting a Historic Pub Crawl today at 5 p.m.. The tour will explore the rich beer-related history of Utah, visiting brew pubs and some of Utah's oldest watering holes. If that's not enough, you also get a T-shirt!

If you think you're the only crime-fiction fan around these parts, you're wrong. Luckily for you, the Main Library hosts the Books To Die For Book Club on the first Thursday of every month. Next' month's book is Michael Koryta's A Welcome Grave. Click here for the full book list.

A few more worthwhile events happening today:

- Rock crews Indigenous and Plateros will be performing at The State Room tonight, beginning at 8 p.m.

- Check out the lecture Healing on the Spiritual Path at The Safety Consortium, starting at 7 p.m.

- Geeks Who Drink pub trivia is happening at Lumpy's Downtown at 8 p.m.
