The Wagner winemaking family has been in Napa Valley for five generations, since the early 1800s. Founded by Charlie, Lorna and their son Chuck, Caymus Vineyards was established in 1972. --- Today, the Wagner family of wines include Caymus, Mer Soleil, Belle Glos, Meiomi, Conundrum, and Clark & Telephone. Many of these are among my favorite California wines.
On Wednesday, March 28, 2012, Wild Grape New West Bistro will host a four-course (plus dessert) wine dinner featuring a really tempting array of the Wagner Family wines. The menu and pairings is as follows:
Blood orange carrot-ginger puree with scallops, arugula, mushroom leek salad/Mer Soleil Chardonnay
Duck with honey wine & adobe gastrique/Meiomi Pinot Noir
Porcini-dusted veal scaloppini with Cognac-mushroom demi glaze and seasonal vegetables/Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir
Buffalo short rib, sweet potato gnocchi, sauteed Swiss chard & tart cherry demi glaze/Caymus Cabernet
Flourless chocolate ganache with coffee
The cost for the dinner is $45 for food and $60 for wine. In addition, an optional glass of Caymus Special Selection Cabernet will be offered for an additional $25.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling 801-746-5565.
By the way, new Wild Grape Chef Dustin Arnold and sous chef Lukas James will be debuting their new spring menu on April 3rd.
