Dear GYA, I went to the Starbucks to get a cup of coffee this morning and the temperature was too damn high. Plus, the number of walnuts on my muffin was too damn high. I tried to complain to the barista, but she was too damn high. Is their anything in SLC that is completely acceptable? - Jimmy McMillan, of The Rent Is Too Damn High Party---

Jimmy, I couldn't help but read that in your voice. Anyway, it sounds like you won't be satisfied with anything but I'll try my best. For starters, head over to Wiseguys Comedy in Trolley Square tonight to see Los Angeles comedian Rory Scovel. He’s made a few appearances on Comedy Central shows like Live at Gotham and John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are still available.

Next, check out Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe at The State Room. The funky saxophonist will be paying tribute to some of his favorite musicians including The Beastie Boys and The Rolling Stones. The show starts at 9 p.m. and tickets are going for $25. If you can’t make it tonight, it’s all good -- he’s playing a second show Saturday night.

If funky saxophones aren't your thing, then go tear up the rug at W Lounge for Stir-Friday. It's a well known fact that the 2011 CWMA DJ of the year Flash & Flare always throws a good party. Plus, he’s invited NYC’s Skinny Friedman to co-pilot the tunes this evening. I'll be there shooting photos for City Weekly's Shots in The Dark, so come get your picture in the paper. This place will be packed and there’s no cover before 10 p.m.

Other events today that Jimmy will probably hate:

- Empress Theatre presents Annie Get Your Gun tonight at 7:30 p.m.

- Nox Contemporary hosts John Bell's exhibit Postmodern Blues at 6 p.m.

- Urban Lounge hosts spoken word poet Saul Williams tonight at 9 p.m.
