Trib Letter of the Week

Jennifer Fox of American Fork wants everyone to know that she's an out, loud and proud homophobe. ---

"Lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgendered people are not a minority group who require protection. What they need is help and therapy," Fox wrote in a March 13 Salt Lake Tribune Public Forum letter.

Now, I wholeheartedly agree with her on that second statement -- because, hell, isn't living in a world with rabid, fanged creatures like Fox enough to make anybody need help and therapy?

Still, I must say she's perhaps a bit, well, harsh in equating LGBT folks with "alcoholics" and describing antidiscrimination measures as "protection of people with warped sexual practices."

"No one has the right to tell me how to conduct my business, who must be allowed to participate in hiring and renting," proclaims Fox. "This is the 21st century."

Fox is a modern woman with a 21st-century attitude, you see -- that is, as long as 21st-century attitudes are exactly the same bigoted, antigay, discriminatory ones that were prevalent in centuries past. She just won't feel completely free if she can't fire and evict every gay person in American Fork.

She took the time and effort to write the Trib because she wants to be absolutely sure we know that about her. So, thanks for sharing, Jennifer!
