Wine Wednesday: Bourgogne Blanc

There are few things I love more on this planet than a good bottle of white Burgundy from France. Unfortunately, my wine budget doesn't allow for much French Burgundy. --- However, Log Haven's general manager, Ian Campbell, recently turned me on to an inexpensive bottle of Bourgogne Blanc that is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Thomas Morey, son of famed French winemaker Bernard Morey, has delivered a very pleasing entry-level white Burgundy with his 2008 Thomas Morey Bourgogne Blanc ($19.43). This medium-bodied Chardonnay is quite elegant for the price, with good acidity, hints of lime and mineral bass notes.

It's a terrific partner for a range of foods, from pasta with cream sauce or grilled seafood dishes to a simple roasted chicken. Recently, I found it to be a perfect match for steamed mussels with frites

It might not be Mersault or Montrachet, but this is a fantastic Burgundian bang-for-the-buck.
