Why would you drop your dough on cheap crap at department stores when you can spend it on some quality tunes? There’s lots to do this post-Black Friday weekend.---

Start the weekend off tonight with some local cuts. Max Pain & The Groovies will be releasing their proper full-length debut Tortilla Gold tonight at The Urban Lounge. And over at Bar Deluxe, the Black Friday dance party commences at 9 p.m. with Muscle Hawk, King Niko and Dirty Blonde. Or, check out some Mexican, LGBTQ-friendly tunes with Girl in a Coma over at Kilby Court.

There’s a couple of big shows for Saturday night that are a better investment than iAccessories or trendy jeans. Read our interview with Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter right here, then go see the show over at The Urban Lounge. Or read our interview with Youth Lagoon here, then go dig on that basement-rock sound over at the garage venue, Kilby Court. Another option -- this one to burn up some of those Turkey Day calories -- is to head up to Park City and check out That ‘70s Show star-turned-DJ, Danny Masterson, as he spins on the ones and two as DJ Mom Jeans at his very own club, Downstairs. Or, maybe, all that shopping has got you looking for something a little more mellow; Ken Sanders Rare Books is hosting the release of the latest edition of Utah Phillips’songbook, Starlight on the Rails, starting at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s best option might be to hit the ski slopes. To read an article about who’s opening when, go here. Then ease into your evening up at The Garage with their monthly acoustic series; tonight features Better Off With the Blues. Another option would be to dig on those classic cuts from the Fab Four, with Imagine up at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City.
