I am for more excited for Thursday night's free screening of Beat Street than any man should be, but that's the kind of love I have for old-school NYC hip-hop. Here are a few other tips for spending your entertainment dollar.---

But we'll start with that Beat Street showing Thursday at Brewvies at 7 p.m. If you like breakdancing, graffiti and DJs who cut and scratch vinyl rather than pushing buttons on a laptop, this flick is for you.

Dance fans will want to make their way to Sugar Space, where Heather Nielsen Dance is delivering a showcase called Gaudi in Motion. It's a joint effort of modern dancers from the U and Utah Valley University, and starts at 8 p.m. Cover is $10.

Salt Lake Acting Company's new production of (a man enters) kicks off its run with a preview performance Thursday night, and Art Access Gallery is hosting an autograph signing with Temple Grandin at 1:30 p.m. Later at the Rose Wagner, the Utah Film Center hosts an Evening with Temple Grandin, the autistic animal-science professor who was recently the subject of an Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning bio-pic.
